Perrido ... The Mime Clown
My inspiration for this clown came from Pierrot, the French character purportedly first created by pantomime performer Jean-Gaspard Deburau (1796-1846). Deburau became famous for his introduction of this pantomime character at the Théâtre des Funambules. With delicate charm and pathos, he captured the essence of the ever hopeful, but always disappointed lover.

Perrido, a one of a kind within this series, is sixteen and a half inches (42 cm) tall and is handmade from white Helmbold heirloom kid mohair with snow white Ultrasuede paw pads. He is free standing with a long neck, five way wooden disk and locknut jointed and firmly filled with 'A'grade polyfibre and glass beads.
I have hand embroidered Perrido's nose in red metallic Gold Rush thread, which reflects the light making his nose appear to glow. His black hand blown German glass eyes have stitched accents and his black and white outfit which I made from crisp printed cottons and trimmed with sparkling pom poms, is accessorised with black shoes and a white felt hat which also has sparkling pom poms.
